Narrowband vs. Wideband

The files will be heard best by using headphones or external speakers plugged into your computer. These files were not recorded in a studio. They were recorded directly from the SoundStation VTX 1000 in a conference room environment.

This file demonstrates the difference between narrowband (the way telephones work today) and VTX Wideband (Polycom's new technology that doubles the bandwidth over a normal telephone line). The SoundStation VTX 1000 automatically connects in wideband mode when you place a call to another SoundStation VTX 1000. If you are calling from a SoundStation VTX 1000 to a phone other than the SoundStation VTX 1000, you will automatically connect in normal narrowband mode. Hear the difference?
